CRIMINAL LAW

This course covers the basics of criminal law, including the voluntary act requirement, mens rea, causation, the definitions of murder, manslaughter and other offenses, liability for the criminal conduct of others, affirmative defenses, including duress, necessity, insanity and self-defense, and provides an introduction to criminal adjudication in burdens of proof, role of counsel, role of judge and jury, and cruel and unusual punishment.
