CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE LAW
(LAWE-4015) - 2 UNITS

This course will examine climate change law at the international, national, state, and local levels. It will begin with an overview of the science of climate change and the potential impacts. It will examine efforts to reduce greenhouse gases using international treaty regimes, national laws (predominantly in the United States), as well as state and local plans. It will also discuss how the law can facilitate human adaptation to changing climactic conditions, sea level rise, and extreme weather events.

Students will write a seminar paper. As this emergent area of law is rapidly changing, students will have the opportunity to write on cutting edge issues.
