GENDERS, SEXUALITY, RACE, AND THE LAW
(LAWH-4032) - 2 UNITS

In this course, we will analyze the laws that protect, inhibit, and perpetuate discrimination against queer and trans people, cis women, people of color, and their intersections. Why are these communities still not represented at the highest echelons of law and business? How can we stop rape? Should there be laws prohibiting pornography? What reproductive freedoms should pregnant people possess? Should there be abortion "on demand?" What about gender affirming care for minors? How do issues of race, sexuality, class, immigration, and ability influence the answers to these questions? How can our communities balance work and family? In this class we will attend to all of these questions, and more.
