If you are seeking academic credit for your field placement, you must submit an application to the Field Placement Department via 12twenty by the applicable deadline, which can be found on the Field Placements website. The Public Interest and Government Field Placement course is designed to complement the field placement experience and help develop the skills used during the field placement. The course will use readings, exercises, class room discussion and assessments to assist in the development of professional identity and lawyering skills. Students will receive on-going feedback on written work . The topics covered will include professionalism in a non-profit or government setting, ethical issues in the different roles of lawyers for government agencies or in legal services, best practices for externs, self-assessment, and work/life balance. Classes meet regularly throughout the semester and are required for all students enrolled in a public interest or government field placement. Instructor approval required to enroll; students must be concurrently enrolled in an approved Publlc Interest or Government Field Placement. Students may enroll in a public interest or government field placement for up to 6 units.

Enrollment: If your field placement application is approved, you will receive notification of approval via email. The Field Placement Department will notify the Registrar's Office of the approval and request that you be enrolled in field placement units and the corresponding course for the field placement.
