NINTH CIRCUIT APPELLATE CLINIC
(LAWJ-5002) - 2 UNITS

The Ninth Circuit Appellate Clinic is a two-semester clinic offering students interested in appellate advocacy the rare opportunity to represent a client in a civil or immigration appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. In the fall semester, students review the record and draft and file the opening brief. After receiving the answering brief, students spend the spring semester drafting the reply brief and preparing for oral argument, which usually takes place in April at the Ninth Circuit's Pasadena Courthouse. Before enrolling in the clinic, a student must have completed at least two-thirds of the legal studies required for graduation. Enrollment is competitive and by application only.
