LANDLORD TENANT CLINIC ADVANCED
(LAWL-5002) - 4 UNIT

Landlord Tenant Clinic Advanced is for students that participated in Landlord Tenant Clinic I: Advocacy Basics during the Fall 2018 semester. This clinic will cover pre-trial preparation, negotiation and trial techniques, motions, jury selection, and delve into complex issues in housing law. As part of this clinic, students will follow one case from filing of an answer through adjudication at trial by working directly with a litigation attorney; including assisting with discovery, motions, trial preparation and attending trial proceedings.

Students will have the opportunity to assist low income tenants and landlords involved in the eviction process under the supervision of clinical faculty at the Shriver-LA Housing Self Help Center (SSH) located at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, 111 N. Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

While at SSH students will assist landlords and tenants in one-on-one sessions or group workshops using proprietary software to guide them through the preparation of their eviction documents. Students will also provide litigants with an overview of the eviction process, trial preparation, and appropriate referrals.

Students will be required to work at SSH a minimum of two 4 hour blocks each week. SSH is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30AM to 4:30PM and Friday from 8:30AM-12:00PM. Enrollment is limited.

Registration is only permitted by invitation. If you are interested, please contact Professor Leon for further details at diana.leon1@lls.edu.
